At 501 Shepherds our top priority is cleanliness and healthy dogs/puppies. We know how vulnerable adult dogs, and most of all, puppies are to parasites, worms, and diseases, While appropriate shots and dewomer at the correct times do help to prevent serious issues, there is always a chance that the health of our dogs can be compromised.
We believe in going above and beyond for our dogs. We can not guarantee that someone, who has no intention of harming our dogs, won't obliviously bring in parasites, illness, disease, and/or worms to our facility. All of the above factors are very difficult to cure (if not caught in time) and very hard to permanently remove from your kennel without it spreading to all of the dogs. This is why we have chosen to strictly be a CLOSED KENNEL.
Being a close kennel means that at NO time will an outside person, other than our primary veterinarians, step foot onto our premises. We are taking this extra precaution to insure the safety and well-being of all our stud dogs, pregnant mommas, nursing mommas, and puppies.
We understand that this may arise some concerns as to how we do our puppy picking process/how you will see your puppy so we hope the following info eases those concerns!
1. We will provide weekly updates on your puppy! This includes pictures, videos, and any extra little experiences we share with your puppy before you meet him or her. A link to the album of your pup will be shared with each individual through the program "Collect by We-transfer". This allows us to get all pictures of your pup to you efficiently and easily. You will get a new link each week that holds all of the new and current pictures/videos of your pup. We also would like for you to know that we do not mind getting a couple extra photos for you in between weekly pictures if you want, just ask!
2. We typically do puppy picks at 4-5 weeks of age. This gives each puppy time to open their eyes, find their feet, develop their color more prominently, and show some personality.
3. When it comes time to pick your puppy we will provide pictures, videos, face times, and phone calls if need be. We also will try to help you match a pup that we feel will fit your lifestyle best!
If you still have concerns, I strongly encourage you to reach out and speak with us personally! We want everyone to feel as comfortable as possible and trust us as much as possible!
